The Michigan Security Network provides strategy, networks and expertise, in addition to facilitates infrastructure and capital investments, to accelerate the growth of homeland security business in the state.

MiSN has the ability to engage with companies on multiple levels. This includes serving as a basic resource or providing more tailored services through a structured fee arrangement.

Management Consulting – The Michigan Security Network is a center of expertise for counseling businesses on technology needs and other opportunities in the homeland security sector. This insight comes from:

• A network of 16 founding members with homeland security experience
• A detailed market analysis by industry experts of the security sector and Michigan’s opportunities
• Relationships with key government agencies at the federal, state and local level, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD)
• Strategic relationships that together allow us to provide expanded services for Michigan-based companies

Michigan Security Network provides consulting to companies looking for access to federal markets, industry partners and federal grants, and to R&D funding; assistance with proposals; business strategy and market research; and assistance with core technology migration and technology transfer.

Sector Database – MiSN created and is actively using an extensive database of Michigan companies and security-related technologies. This database is utilized to match companies looking for partnerships, as well as those searching for technologies.

Business Accelerator – A key component of our enterprise is a homeland security−focused virtual business accelerator to focus on early-stage technology firms in our target sectors. Working with existing university incubators, Michigan Security Network provides services in business assistance, sector expertise and capital-raising.

Investment – Through its database, Michigan Security Network will be in a position to identify businesses and technologies that have a fit for investors and federal funding. The organization will assist in making connections among business, private and government funding sources to encourage new revenue streams for established companies or seed money for start-ups and entrepreneurs.

Conferences – On a regular basis, the Michigan Security Network will be organizing conferences to bring together homeland security technology companies with government opinion leaders and decision makers, as well as investors and other stakeholders in the supply chain.
