BORDER SECURITY
Michigan is the only state that can offer a geographic position at the center of the largest U.S. bilateral trading relationship. Additionally, the state can offer its strong systems engineering workforce to develop border security solutions and establish relationships with key players already in this space.
While more than 15 percent growth is expected in border security spending, this sector will begin to stabilize, albeit at high levels. The northern border could be a big opportunity should the Department of Homeland Security expand technology efforts such, as SBINet and US-VISIT, that are currently in place along southern borders. Another area of opportunity could be the integration of identity management solutions with cargo security solutions
